Surgery

Pre operative

If you have planned surgery the stronger you are before it the quicker you may recover afterwards.

We can assess your current abilities and work with you to help you build yourself up and prepare you physically and mentally before the surgery.

Post operative

If you have had an operation of any type it can sometimes take a while to return to your baseline or adapt to your new normal.

We can help you recover with general post operative advice and design a bespoke exercise programme within your surgeons guidelines to build your strength back up.

The quicker you start moving the quicker you will heal.

Prolonged hospital admission

When anyone is in hospital you tend to either be unwell or having surgery both of which mean your body is left feeling weaker and not at your normal level of activity.

In hospital most of your care is given in or around your bed space, this means you don’t move around very much, which leads to general deconditioning and muscle weakness.

Once you are medically fit to leave hospital and either go home or into respite you may feel that you need to physically build up strength back up, improve your mobility, general function and your activities of daily living.

Physiotherapy for the elderly

As our bodies age we lose joint range of movement, muscle strength, general flexibility and agility and our balance changes.

If you feel you or someone you care about is becoming more frail or at risk of having falls then we can work with you to maintain or improve these.

Neurological health

Neurological health conditions tend to have an impact on your whole body including pain, joint stiffness, muscle spasticity or tone, altered gait (walking pattern) and general movements.

Although most neurological conditions are progressive we can still work with you to optimise your strength, movement and mobility.

We treat most neurological conditions including Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, CVA (Stroke) and Motor Neurone Disease.
